Angel Enriquez

Downey resident Angel Enriquez, a student at Carpenter Elementary, has been awarded the Special Olympics' Male Athlete of the Year Award for 2009. Angel was born with Down syndrome and Hirschsprung's disease (an intestinal disorder). He is a member of the Challenger team for West Downey Little League and was invited to participate in the Special Olympics last year. He trained with the South East Special Olympics team at the Bellflower Aquatics Center and won two gold medals and one silver medal in swimming. ********** Published: February 19, 2010 - Volume 8 - Issue 44
