Alleged drunk driver faces 50 years to life
ALHAMBRA - An alleged drunk driver who lost control of his vehicle and plowed into an excavating machine in a construction area on the San Bernardino Freeway, killing a woman and injuring several others, was arraigned Monday.Jacob Garcia Jr., 47, was charged with murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI. He faces 50 years to life in prison. On Dec. 16, Garcia was allegedly driving drunk with six passengers in his sedan when he collided with a piece of excavating equipment on the 10 Freeway in Alhambra. Maria Faith Soloman died in the crash and the other passengers were injured. Bail for Garcia was recommended at $1.3 million.
