Aldo Schindler named city manager of Artesia
DOWNEY — Former Downey deputy city manager Aldo Schindler was named city manager of Artesia on Wednesday.
Schindler left Downey in April to become assistant city manager in Moreno Valley. His departure was part of a large administrative shake-up at City Hall that began when the city council forced city manager Gilbert Livas into early retirement.
Schindler’s hiring completes a 10-month hiring search by Artesia, which has been operating under interim city manager Mike Egan.
“Aldo has a strong background in economic development that stood out among a strong field of candidates,” said Artesia Mayor Melissa Ramoso. “He is personable, very knowledgeable, and was able to demonstrate he will put our City and employees first.”
Egan called Schindler “a great hire by the city.”
“Aldo is well known and well regarded in the Gateway Cities region,” Egan said. “His strength in Community Development and knowledge of both local and regional issues are just what the City needs.”
Schindler begins in his new role Nov. 15.
“I’m very excited to serve the community of Artesia, and lead staff in implementing the vision of the City Council,” said Schindler. “As a resident of the area, and frequent visitor to Artesia, I look forward to working with the City’s residents and businesses.”
