After-school program to get training

DOWNEY - The city has renewed an agreement with Global Learning Inc. to provide training services ASPIRE staff members.ASPIRE, an after-school program for kids hosted at Downey schools, recently implemented a literature-based curriculum consisting of eight themes. Global Learning will provide ongoing training to ASPIRE staff. The one-year agreement totals $42,525 and will be funded through a state grant. ASPIRE is a collaborative program between the city of Downey and Downey Unified School District. It operates on school days from dismissal until 6 p.m.
