Adalberto “Papi Beto” Murillo
September 17, 1951 - August 4, 2021
Adalberto “Papi Beto” Murillo passed away on August 4, 2021, at the age of 69 after an 8-month battle with Cancer.
He was born on September 17, 1951, in Jerez, Zacatecas Mexico. He married his childhood sweetheart Rosa Maria Arellano at the tender age of 18 (she was 17) years old on May 9, 1970, in their hometown.
Within a couple of years, they moved to the United States for a better life and settled in Downey, CA. Their marriage lasted 51 years until his death in 2021. He retired from Leach Grain & Milling, in Downey after working there for almost 30 years. Prior to that he was a cook at Foxy’s Restaurant (now known as Downey Brewery) for 15 years.
Mr. & Mrs. Murillo bought their home in Downey where they remained.
Papi Beto was a hardworking, honorable, noble, and humble man who only saw the best in everyone. He loved and lived for his family unconditionally, an ideal family man. He found joy in often volunteering with grandson’s Special Olympics event and fundraisers and attending his grandkids sporting events. He was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers who never missed a game.
He is survived by his beloved wife Rosa, two son’s Albert, Eduardo, three daughters Sandra, Gabriela, and Adriana, four granddaughters: Natalie, Julianna, Mariah, and unborn granddaughter Celeste, eight grandsons: Angel, Peter, Albert, Nate, Eddie, Marcos, and baby Twins Mathew & Adalberto.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. John Bosco High School Chapel 13640 S. Bellflower Blvd. Bellflower, CA 90706. Funeral Mass to be held on Monday August 30th at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial to follow at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress.
