84-year-old man missing from Downey found
DOWNEY — A 84-year-old man who was reported missing after last being seen in Downey, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert covering four counties, has been found, authorities said Thursday evening.
Rogelio Mejia had last been seen Friday near the intersection of Morning Avenue and Cleta Street around 7 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued the alert on behalf of the Downey Police Department.
The CHP reported at 10:52 p.m. Thursday that Mejia had been found, but as is customary in missing persons cases, no further details were announced.
The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
The Silver Alert had been in effect for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
