4 members of Downey family allegedly infected with COVID-19

DOWNEY — A Downey family has been left reeling after four members of the family contracted COVID-19, friends said.

“The …family are residents in the City of Downey and lifelong friends,” said Mayra Bonilla, who created a Go Fund Me page for the family. “It has been a tough time for them with four of their family members including both parents hospitalized and fighting to breathe due to COVID-19.

“For those of you who are young and think this isn’t going to affect you, think again.”

“They are currently battling pneumonia and extremely high fevers,” Bonilla said. “They are also having trouble breathing.”

“We continue to hear that this virus only affects the old, but that couldn’t be more wrong. Please listen to the recommendations by the health department, and CDC, and stay safe.”

As of Monday, the L.A. County Public Health Department had not yet confirmed any coronavirus cases out of Downey.
