2015 Stay Young

Stay Gallery hosted a group of teachers, administrators, students and community members Tuesday for a focus group to discuss the gallery’s 2015 Stay Young initiative. Stay Young is a partnership between Stay Gallery and the Downey Unified School District that works to fill the void in art education. Students are engaged through student art exhibits, classroom field trips, art education programs, and student-run program initiatives.

The focus group discussed program deveopment, arts integration to STEM, student exhibitions, field trips, program assessment, and an overall plan for 2015.

Participants include elementary school teachers Alex Venegas and Tara Minton; middle school teacher Leslie Chavez; high school teachers Glenn Yamasaki and Daniela Keeler; elementary school principal Rani Maline-Bertsch; high school student Carlos Agredano; DUSD staff member Leslie Neill; Downey Kiwanis Foundation representative Blanca Pacheco; Downey Art Vibe board of director Nancy Guirguis; and Stay Gallery staff Valentin Flores, Joseph Manacmul, Gabriel Enamorado and Laura Hurtado.
