2 people filmed trying to throw contraband into Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall

DOWNEY — Two people are suspected of trying to throw contraband over a wall around the Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey but it appeared they failed, authorities said Monday.

The effort was filmed on a smart phone Sunday outside the facility at 7285 Quill Drive, according to a press release by the LA County Probation Department. The time of day was not noted.

The person filming the attempt was heard stating "they are escaping" as they observed two people outside the wall.

Probation Department officials confirmed the people in the film were not juvenile hall youth. They are suspected of attempting to throw contraband over the wall, but no contraband was found on either side, officials said.

No services at Los Padrinos were impacted by the investigation, including visiting hours, officials said.
