2 men killed in Downey crash identified

DOWNEY — The medical examiner's office Sunday released the names of two men killed when a car crashed into a tree in Downey.

The two were Mynor Medina, a 27-year-old resident of Fontana, and 34- year-old Fabian Armas Cortes, with no known city of residence.

The crash occurred about 5:10 a.m. Saturday in the area of Downey Avenue and Imperial Highway, according to a watch sergeant at the Downey Police Department.

A SigAlert was issued at 5:11 a.m. temporarily closing the eastbound and westbound lanes of Imperial Highway, from Downey Avenue to Paramount Boulevard for the crash investigation, the California Highway Patrol said.
