Dear Editor:I wish to commend our firefighters and law enforcement agencies. With all the wildfires all over, there's a distinct possibility that without their heroic efforts most, if not all, of our country could end up in smoke. Our firefighters are out there in the searing heat, loaded down with heavy equipment, risking their lives fighting the flames while law enforcement officers make sure people are evacuated and safe. So please, let's give credit where it is due and a big thank you and vote of gratitude to our heroes. And a big thank you to our news media for keeping us informed. Harold Houghland Downey
