Volunteers needed to serve Thanksgiving meals
DOWNEY - Volunteers are needed to help serve Thanksgiving dinner to needy men and women from local shelters on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.Now in its 20th year, the dinner is sponsored by Breath of God Christian Fellowship, in conjunction with the Aggressive Community Training and Services Foundation. Volunteers will help prepare and serve hot meals, set-up equipment, and decorate. Food donations are also being accepted for the ministry's annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Project, founded by Pastor Garnett Simpson-Grier. The food baskets will be distributed to middle and high schools in Downey on Nov. 22. To sign-up as a volunteer, call the church at (310) 767-9620.
