San Gabriel Valley poet to read work

DOWNEY - Scott Noon Creley, active in the San Gabriel Valley poetry scene and a lecturer in English Literature at Whittier College, will read some of his original poetry this Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Epic Lounge.The event begins with an open mike at 7:30 p.m. and is part of Third Thursday Poetry. All ages are welcome. Creley grew up in Pomona and earned a BA from UC Riverside and a Masters of Fine Arts from Cal State Long Beach. Recently married to Carly McKean, he lives in Rancho Cucamonga. He is founding curator of the San Gabriel Valley Literary Festival, a three-day arts and literature festival held in West Covina last February. The event featured well-known authors from Southern California. Creley's work has been published in "Sentence," "Miramar," "Carnival Lit Magazine" and the collection "Bear Flag Republic" from Alcatraz Press. His poetry collection, "Digging a Hole to the Moon," will be available from Spot Hill Press this December.
