Old River Elementary School will be purchasing additional technology to assist and enhance student learning after receiving a $10,000 technology grant from the Downey Kiwanis Foundation. Formed in 1985, the foundation has provided funding for computer labs at Downey and Warren high schools, Doty, Griffiths, Sussman and West middle schools, and seed money for Warren High's engineering program. In June, the foundation awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships to Downey Unified students and teachers.
