Healthcare options subject of forum
DOWNEY - A community forum to discuss healthcare options under the state's new healthcare exchange - Covered California - will be held Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.According to Assembly member Cristina Garcia, who is hosting the forum, health insurance coverage will be offered to everyone, even those with pre-existing conditions or who can't afford coverage. "Many low-income and middle class families will qualify for discounted premiums with federal subsidies to help pay for the insurance," Garcia said in a press release. "The program will provide 10 essential healthcare benefits, including emergency care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, mental health, maternity and newborn care."
