Downey Adult School's ESL Department honored more than 20 graduates on Dec. 12 in a ceremony at the Harriett Paine Events Center. Students from Egypt, Columbia, Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador received their diplomas "with pride," school officials said. "Students in the English-as-a-Second Language Program must complete attendance hours, proficiency tests and a final exam in order to be eligible to graduate.
