Detectives seek leads in fatal hit and run
Detectives are asking the public's help to find the driver who earlier this year fatally struck a 20-year-old Norwalk man and sped off without stopping. Norwalk High School graduate Daniel Ortiz was riding his skateboard at about 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 9 when he was struck near Studebaker and Foster roads.
Ortiz was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision, authorities said.
A passerby tried to help Ortiz but he died at the scene.
Detectives think the vehicle that struck Ortiz is a metallic blue 2003-07 Nissan Titan pickup truck. It likely suffered damage to the left front driver's side headlight.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call detective Steve Boyer of the Norwalk Sheriff's Station at (562) 863-8711, ext. 5439. Tips can be left anonymously by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
