Dear Editor:In reply to Guillermo Vasquez's Letter to the Editor, "Christian Nation," I have some quotations that would lead one to believe that the United States of America indeed, was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. In the Declaration of Independence, the following words appear: "Nature's God, Creator, unalienable rights, Supreme Judge of the World, Protection of Divine Providence." Their acknowledgment seems complete. God is spelled with a capital "G." George Washington prayed "I now make it my earnest prayer that God would have you and the State over which you preside, in His holy protection, that he would incline the hearts or the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obeidence to government,...to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy...with charity, humility, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion..." Thomas Jefferson said, "God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever." There are numerous references to God on Washington, D.C. monuments and elsewhere. Now prayer has been removed from public schools and other places by our "Supreme Court" - mere men appointed by politicians. But we see they have made many undesirable decisions - besides eliminating prayer - abortions (over 50 million babies murdered for convenience, paid for with out tax money; marriage is no longer between a man and woman, but includes same-sex couples. Marriage was instituted by God with a capital "G." Who know what other foolish, Godless decisions they will make. But the Bible states (Romans 14:10,11) that all - "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Yes, even the Supreme Court, college professors. All will bow.
