Dear Editor: My family recently moved to Downey a few years ago. I agree with Misty Hausmann’s letter about higher-end stores. (Facebook Conversation, 9/18/14)

I like bargains, but what about putting up a Whole Foods or Sprouts and a World Market or HomeGoods? We have to drive to Whittier, Lakewood or Long Beach, and it would be nice if it was available here. It would boost our city’s image and provide residents with healthier options and a wider selection of products to choose from.

With all the vacant lots now, I hope our city will look into it.
