Theater mismanagement

Dear Editor: The lawsuit against VenueTech Theater Management Co. has been filed! I extend continued well wishes to Los Lonely boys frontman Mr. Garza and his family.

Meanwhile at the Downey Theater as we approach fall and what would have been the opening musical of the new Downey Civic Light Opera season, VenueTech has instead offered three single-performance shows: 1) Rhythym City Tours in September  2) Mesto Orchestra in October  3) Dia De Los Meurtos, a free show in November.

For those who attended the DCLO musicals, who will ever forget uplifting shows in recent years such as “Cabaret,” “My Fair Lady,” “Singin’ In The Rain?” Also, the stellar salutes to the great American songbook composers such as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Kander & Ebb...

VenueTech has misrepresented themselves. Their amateurish incompetence has become a danger even to the very performers that they book.

Here and now I call on the city of Downey leaders to end VenueTech’s contract early before more harm can be done.

Citizens of Downey and surrounding cities who support this position, please express your feelings in a written letter to Downey City Council, 11111 Brookshire Ave., Downey CA 90241.
