The Museum of Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses near Xian

Richard and Barbara Sterling toured China in April with their son, Scott, and his wife, Linda, from the Seattle area and nephew, Bruce Rolfe, from Chicago. They visited one of the most famous archeological finds in history, now named the Museum of Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses near Xian. “The first emperor to unify China over 2000 years ago decreed an army be built to protect him and his tomb in the “afterlife,’” said Barbara. “ The buried army was discovered in 1974 by a farmer digging a well.  So far, over 6000 figures in one pit alone (of three being excavated) have been revealed!  It is a spectacular sight to behold most of these 6000 figures covered by an airplane hangar type structure.”
