Stella Armas mourned

DOWNEY – Stella Marie Armas, born in Los Angeles on Nov. 1, 1924, passed away June 18. She was raised in Los Angeles with her family (one sister and two brothers). After high school, she married Richard Armas, and they would remain married 55 years until his passing in 2005.

Soon after getting married they moved to Compton and opened Dicks Sporting Goods in Lynwood. After their two sons, Ray and Paul, were born, they moved to Cole Street in Downey, where Stella lived for 47 years.

They then started Armas Plastering, Sandblast and Restucco. She worked the office and was also employed by Hughes Aircraft. She was a parishoner at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her two sons, Ray (Gaylen) and Paul (Barbara); three grandchildren, Kyle, Alicia and James; and five great-grandchildren, Michael, Alyssa, Evan, Brooke and Aidan.
