Dear Editor: Kudos to the DUSD board for recognizing Dr. Mary Stauffer’s contributions to the education of the children of Downey and the well-presented ceremony, and to The Downey Patriot for the well-written coverage of the moving ceremony.

We will not live long enough to see another person do so much as Dr. Stauffer has done for the children and teachers of Downey. Her recognition is well deserved. No one in the history of Downey has done so much for our children.

I am proud of having known Dr. Stauffer.
