Mark Gillaspie, Downey’s new fire chief effective Aug. 4, was guest speaker at a recent Downey Los Amigos Kiwanis meeting. Gillaspie, 51, has spent his entire career with the Downey Fire Department, starting in the auxiliary program before he was hired as a Downey firefighter in 1989.
