Malanie Nelson Freeman completed her high school diploma at Downey Adult School (DAS), while working and supporting her family. After completing her diploma at DAS, Ms. Nelson moved on to Ashford University to begin her undergraduate degree.  She graduated from Ashford University with a degree in Social Sciences. She recently contacted DAS in need of proof of high school graduation.  She is poised to complete her Master’s Degree in Social Services at the prestigious University of Southern California (USC) by the end of this year, 2014. With a goal of working with foster children in our system to help guide and support them to a better future, Melanie has proven that you should never give up.

She is currently working at Trinity Foster Care as a social worker, while completing her graduate degree. This is proof that she is passionate and determined to make a difference.

Downey Adult School is proud of her and happy to have had the opportunity to help her reach her goals. We are looking forward to continuing to do the same for the people of our community for years to come.
