Library’s April auction items revealed

DOWNEY – The Friends of the Downey City Library holds monthly silent book auctions to raise money in support of the various programs of the local library. Items this month include:

“The Complete Works of Shakespeare” and “The Young Person’s Guide to Shakespeare” (a CD is included in the latter);

“Window of the Soul” (explores the many ways we might receive messages and direction from above);

“Killing Lincoln” (Bill O’Reilly’s recent publication);

“Leonardo Da Vinci” (written entirely  in Spanish and presents 100 folios of the “Codice Atlantico”);

“If You Ask Me, and of Course You Won’t” (Betty White delivers a hilarious and profound take on life, love, celebrity, and more);

“100 Greatest Trips” (an inspiring collection of journeys from the editors of Travel and Leisure);

“Country Heart and Soul” (the best stories and photographs by Country Magazine’s readers);

“Gnomes” and “Faeries” (lots of history and hundreds of drawings and paintings explore the world of these magical creatures);

“Titanic - An Illustrated History” (a complete history from  the ship’s early construction and launch to its sinking and re-discovery);

“Wolfgang Puck Makes It Easy” (more than 150 recipes with step-by-step photographed instructions);

“The Story of Philosophy” (an approachable guide to the history of ideas and thinking in language we can understand);

“The Book of Dreams” (a guide for anyone wishing to gain insight into the working of the mind).

Books have opening bids from $6-$10 and are on display in the library lobby. Bids can be made through noon, this Saturday, April 26, on cards in the Friend’s Bookstore which is located in the young adult section of the library.
