College theater students to perform ‘Waiting for Lefty’

NORWALK – “Waiting for Lefty,” a play set during the Depression years that is based on the real-life struggles of the New York cabdriver’s union strike of 1934, will open at the Burnight Studio Theater at Cerritos College Oct. 10. As drivers struggle to gain fair wages, the union bosses secretly work to sell them down the river. Things are boiling over and plans for a strike are brewing.

Performances are Oct. 10-11 at 8 p.m.; Oct. 16-18 at 8 p.m.; and Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are on sale online and at the theater box office one hour prior to each performance.

Presale tickets are $15 general admission, $14 for students and seniors, and $12 for kids ages 5-12. No children under age 5 permitted.

Prices are slightly higher at the door.

For tickets or more information, go to cerritos.edu/theatre or call Renee Bloch at (562) 860-2451, ext. 2638.
