DOWNEY – Ardys Lorraine Halterman passed away peacefully March 6 at her home in Downey where she resided since 1953.She was 85. A small graveside service and burial took place March 17 at Forest Lawn in Covina Hills.

Ardys was born March 29, 1928, in Pennock, Minn. She graduated from Cal State Long Beach in 1968 and was elected as a member of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi in 1967.

She dedicated more than 35 years to teaching (Ward Elementary and East Middle School) and retired from LAUSD in June of 2003.

Ardys was preceded in death by her son, William; husband, Dwight; and brother, Howard.

She is survived by her son, Robert Scott Halterman; granddaughters, Kasie Gonzalez, Laura Ross and Janine Harvey; grandson, Richard Halterman; and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Aubrey.
