4 arrested at DUI checkpoint

DOWNEY –  A DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Downey last Friday resulted in four arrests. Three suspected drunk drivers were arrested. Another driver was arrested on other unspecified criminal charges.

Police cited 59 unlicensed drivers, and 17 drivers who were driving on suspended or revoked licenses.

More than 1,350 vehicles were screened at the checkpoint located at Imperial Highway and Rives Avenue.

Another checkpoint is scheduled for December.

Meanwhile, 14 people were arrested at a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Bellflower last Thursday night, Aug. 28.

Of the 14 arrests, seven were for driving without a license. Another four drivers with suspended or revoked licenses also were arrested.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested two DUI (marijuana) suspects. One person was arrested for illegal possession of narcotics.

In La Mirada, deputies made 20 arrests, including 19 for driving without a license.

The other arrest was for driving on a suspended or revoked license.
