Warren High School graduate Robert Becerra, 22, has been accepted into the Navy's pilot training program.He departs for Newport, R.I., on Feb. 1 for 12 weeks of officer candidate school before heading to Pensacola, Fla., to begin preflight training. Becerra grew up in Downey and graduated from Warren High School in 2009. He earned a degree in physics from Whittier College last year before deciding to join the military. "Robert is setting the path for his future and his family couldn't be prouder of him," said his mother, Tammy Lynch. Becerra and his recruiter are pictured above at a swearing-in ceremony at the naval base in Los Alamitos.
