DOWNEY - Dominic (DD) Mustin II, a former Downey resident and youth football player, passed away Jan. 2 from complications of Type 1 diabetes.

He was born July 25, 1990 at Kaiser Hospital in Woodland Hills. He grew up in Downey attended elementary, middle school and some high school.

He graduated from Butner High School in Cromwell, Okla., in 2009 and was attending ITT Technical Institute, majoring in computer technology.

Dominic was a member of the Downey Razorbacks football team from 1998-2004 as running back and defensive lineman.

He is survived by his mother, LaJuene Mustin; father, Dominic Mustin; brothers, Marques and Brayden Mustin; grandparents, Ernestine (Tena) Ash and John Mustin; and a large extended family.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Miller-Mies Mortuary in Downey on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 9 a.m.
