Guerra calls for Sen. Wright's resignation

Mario Guerra, Downey councilman and candidate for state senate, who previously called for Senator Roderick Wright's resignation in the face of a recent jury verdict convicting the Senator of eight felonies - including lying to the voters about his residence in order to hold office - is asking for his competitors to demand Senator Wright's resignation as well."While all of the candidates currently running for the 32nd Senate Seat have different ideas regarding politics as well as policy, I am sure we can all agree that our elected officials should place a high priority on character in leadership. For that reason I call the other candidates running - Ms. Sally Havice, Ms. Irella Perez, and Mr. Tony Mendoza - to call for Senator Wright to resign, also. Surely this is something that we can all agree on - that the people in our communities deserve leaders who place their desires for higher office behind the needs of the people they are representing. I have a proven track record of not only reducing crime, helping to provide a quality education to our community's children and creating real jobs; but of doing all of that with the utmost character." Councilman Guerra added, "Silence is not acceptable. Our next Senator must not just have character, he or she must lead by example. I challenge all of my opponents to stand with me and demand Senator Wright's immediate resignation."
