DOWNEY - Bettie Norman Tompkins passed away peacefully at home Sunday, May 5, surrounded by family.A longtime Downey resident, Bettie became president and CEO of Norman Seed Company, a business started by her father, when he passed in 1988. She worked on and off at the company, as she and her husband Gerald raised their five children in Downey. Bettie is survived by her husband, Gerald; son, Hal (Sandy); four daughters, Shirley (Russ); Jerri (Bob); Terri and Beth (Steve); 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on May 11 in San Clemente.
