Downey Adult School students pass the California Shorthand Reporters Examination

Downey Adult School students Shirley Lynn, Leah Javanfard, Jessie Love and Brittnay Fitzgerald qualified recently to take the California Shorthand Reporters Examination last Friday in Sacramento. The exam is given three times a year and is the equivalent to a bar exam. It is a two-day test, with academic subjects tested on one day and machine dictation a different day. To be eligible to take the state test, students must have completed 660 hours of academic training in English, legal studies, medical terminology, court procedures, California codes and computer training. They also must pass all speed tests up to and including a 200 word-per-minute qualifier test with four live readers. ********** Published: November 8, 2012 - Volume 11 - Issue 30
