Young lady to compete in pageant
DOWNEY - Kristine Urzua of Downey was recently selected to participate in Nationals' 2009 Miss Teen Los Angeles pageant competition that will take place Feb. 21.Urzua submitted an application and took part in an interview session with Patty Neidert, this year's Los Angeles pageant coordinator. Urzua learned of her acceptance into the competition when Nationals, Inc. announced their selections last week. A Miss Downey Princess last year, Urzua will be competing for her share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts. She will compete in the Miss Teen division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies between the ages of 7-19 competing in modeling routines which include casual wear and formal wear. Urzua will also be judged on her personality and interviewing skills by a judging panel. If Urzua were to win the title of Miss Teen Los Angeles, she would represent Los Angeles and the surrounding communities at the Cities of America National Competition that will take place in Orlando, Fla. More than $60,000 in prizes will be presented at the national competition, while each contestant enjoys an expense-paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando. Urzua is participating in the pageant at no cost. Through sponsorships, each contestant receives all the necessary training, rehearsals, and financial support necessary.
