DOWNEY – Whittier Mayor Joe Vinatieri will be the guest speaker at Creative Purposes lunch group Thursday, Aug. 10, at Sizzler in Downey.

In 2016, Vinatieri became the first and still only voter-elected mayor in Whittier, changing a tradition many surrounding cities still have of rotating the mayoralship among council members.

A widower with three adult children, Vinatieri is a lawyer and defender of citizens’ First Amendment rights. He has volunteered as a young counselor and with Boy Scouts of America.

The meeting begins at 11:30 am in Sizzler’s banquet room. It is open to the public (buy your own lunch).
