On March 10, the city of Downey along with, Keeping Downey Beautiful coordinator Carol Rowland, invited the West Middle School Builders Club to plant trees in front of the WMS campus. Rowland bestowed a proclamation to teacher Marlene Camacho and her Builders Club members. They planted four trees, commonly named Crapemyrtle. "The city of Downey crew members had a great time demonstrating to the students how to maintain the plant for years to come," Camacho said.
