DOWNEY — Seaman Recruit Yunuen Montes de Oca, a 2019 graduate of Warren High School, graduated from U.S. Navy boot camp last month.

Yunuen did four years of construction at Warren High with a specialty in plumbing, winning gold at the state championships at L.A. Trade Tech. She is currently the only female plumber at her naval school in Great Lakes, Ill. She credits her Warren High teacher, Mr. Kiess, for her success.

Yunuen is training to become a hull technician.
