Warren, Downey seniors are winners in Congresswoman's art contest

DOWNEY – Warren High School senior Alfonso Hernandez won second place in Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard's annual student art competition.
Hernandez won for his black and white traditional photo titled "Keeping Busy." His instructor is George Redfox.
As second place winner, Hernandez receives a $750 scholarship and $175 for art supplies.
Briana Medina, a senior at Downey High, won the People's Choice Award for her charcoal drawing titled "Unknown." Her instructor is Darrelle Nikaj, and she wins a $250 scholarship and $125 for art supplies.
The competition's first place winner was junior Luis Angel Calderon of Paramount High. His digital photo, titled "Pondering Innocence," will be exhibited at the U.S. Capitol for one year.
