Sue Shradar

December 29, 1936 - March 7, 2016

Sue Shradar was born to Florence and Leroy Mackey on December 29, 1936 in Ava, Missouri and entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2016 at her home in Downey, California. She was 79 years old. Previously, Sue was employed as a Communications Technician for 30 years.

Sue had a desire for knowledge and could be found taking classes at the local colleges. She took classes on everything from history to upholstery. She also was an avid seamstress making clothes for her children and grandchildren and crafts of all kinds. She spent hours in the fabric stores and sewing with her best friend and fellow seamstress Thyra.

Sue traveled with her family all over the United States and made a point to visit family during each trip. Later in life she continued to travel to Missouri twice a year to visit family. She also took a once in a lifetime trip to Japan and Korea with the Telephone Pioneers.

Sue loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist church of Downey and active member of the Chi Alpha Sunday School Class for over 50 years. She also taught Children Sunday School for many years.

But most of all she loved her family. She loved visiting with all of her children and was blessed with eight grandchildren. She loved showing them how to cook, garden, or just being with them. She loved going to all of their activities from school plays to sporting events. She was also loved by all of their friends and loved being their surrogate grandma. She was also a great-grandmother and loved playing with them and of course rocking and singing to them.

She was a woman rich with love from friends and family and all who met her. She will be greatly missed by all.

Sue is survived by her four children; son John (Linda) Shradar of Friendswood, TX, daughter Debbie (Lou) Sasso of Lake Forest, CA, daughter Diane (Larry) Bale of La Mirada, CA and daughter Darla (Jeff) Rulon of Huntington Beach, CA. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, sisters; Judy Kilburn of Omaha, NE and Becky Miller of Mansfield, MO. Sue was greeted at Heaven’s gate by her loving husband of 60 years Bill Shradar who preceded her in death.
