Traffic collision leaves Big Boy mascot with significant head trauma

DOWNEY — An early morning single-car crash left Bob’s Big Boy’s iconic Big Boy statue missing half of its head Wednesday.

At around 2 a.m., a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant on Firestone Boulevard, near the restaurant. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The road was cleared and reopened, and Bob’s Big Boy opened for regular operation.
