Three suspects arrested in armed robbery of Downey jewelry store

DOWNEY—Authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a Downey jewelry store, police announced Tuesday.

The robbery took place on Jan. 11 at Gold Dream Fine Jewelry in Downey, where three men entered the store armed with a firearm and restrained a store employee before fleeing with stolen merchandise, according to the Downey Police Department.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified the three suspects, who were taken into custody on Feb. 13 after search warrants were executed at locations in Long Beach and Inglewood. Downey detectives worked in coordination with the Long Beach Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to carry out the arrests.

The suspects were identified as Christian Javier Trujillo Culqui, 30; Daniel Alexander Medina Mera, 31; and Jonny Israel Marcillo Alcivar, 30. All three are residents of Long Beach. Authorities said they recovered evidence linking the men to the crime during the searches.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against each suspect, including one count of kidnapping for robbery and one count of robbery.
