Thelma Lee Hust Mytys

May 9, 1932 - July 24, 2022

Thelma Lee Hust Mytys was born in Hatch, New Mexico to George and Jewel Franklin Berry, while her family was on their way to California from Texas. Thelma grew up in the small orchard town of Winters, California.

During her senior year of high school, Thelma met her future husband Elza Eugene (Gene) Hust, who was stationed at the nearby Travis Air Force Base. They were married in Winters, California on September 2, 1951. Soon they were blessed with two children, Robert Eugene, then Diana Lee.

Thelma became a devoted military wife and a loving, attentive mom. She moved her family 6 times while Gene was in the Air Force, including a 3-year tour to Japan. When her children grew up and out, Thelma kept herself busy with joining a women’s bowling league, delivering Meals on Wheels (24 years), and a walker/collector of the American Heart Association (10 years). Thelma was very involved in her church, Norwalk First Christian Church in Norwalk, California. She was a talented singer in the church choir. Her singing talent also took her to sing in the Bellflower Chorale, which her children and grandchildren were able to witness from the audience. Thelma was always a caring person, whether it was driving friends to their doctor appointments, or visiting patients in the convalescent hospitals to bring holiday gifts and birthday greetings. Thelma thrived at being a loving and devoted grandma to her 5 grandchildren. In time she was overjoyed as her children became grandparents and she became a Gma.

Thelma was preceded in death (widowed at 54 years of age) by her husband of 34 years, Gene Hust. She was widowed again when Ralph Mytys died suddenly after just 5 weeks of marriage. She is survived by her children, Robert Eugene Hust (Virginia) of Maricopa, AZ, Diana Lee Borzi (Mike) of Downey, CA. Grandchildren, Melissa Briski (Paul) of Phoenix, AZ, Robyn Huigens (William) of Chandler, AZ, Tim Borzi of Norwalk, CA, Kristin Dosh (Ryan) of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, and Ryan Hust of Lewisville, TX. Great Grandchildren, Haylee Jewel, Jocelyn Joy, Ava Victoria, Hannah Marie, Hunter Ann, Gavin Robert, Trevor Mikel.

Thelma was laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, joining her first husband, Elza Eugene (Gene) Hust.
