DOWNEY - Scott Pomrehn, executive director of the Columbia Memorial Space Center, explained the center's future plans at a Downey Symphony Guild fundraiser Feb. 11.The gala featured a buffet dinner set among the exhibits, inside and outside dining, assistance from docents and access to all activities at the space center. The event was the first of its kind for the space center, and was held as a fundraiser for Music in the Schools, a program that allows all DUSD fifth graders to travel to the Downey Theatre for a symphony performance. Music in the Schools also provides funding for a quintet of orchestra musicians to visit all 17 local elementary schools.
