DOWNEY - About 10 miles of Downey streets will be repaired and upgraded, according to a plan approved by the City Council on Tuesday.The city will use a process known as "slurry seal" to fix cracks in the roadways, which officials say will extend the life of streets. American Asphalt South, Inc. was awarded the $254,000 contract, which also calls for new pavement striping and markings. Forty-four street segments were resurfaced earlier this year, and the city plans to repair more streets over the next two years.
