St. John Bosco begins postseason against Cabrillo

BELLFLOWER– St John Bosco’s football team begins their quest for a second straight state title when they take on Cabrillo High School tonight. Kick off is 7 p.m. at Cerritos College. Before this evening’s playoff game Bosco had to wrap up Trinity League play last Friday vs. Santa Margarita.

Bosco used an unanswered 27-point scoring bonanza in the fourth quarter to pull out a 58-34 victory and finish undefeated in Trinity League play (9-1, 5-0).

Santa Margarita was leading Bosco 28-24 early in the fourth quarter, but in a span of 4:48 Bosco scored four touchdowns and never looked back after taking a 51-28 advantage.

During the “four minutes of fury” scoring frenzy, Bosco’s offense scored two rushing touchdowns and the defense scored two touchdowns as well.

As the Braves defense started to take control of the game, junior running back Sean McGrew and his O-line lead the way offensively. Bosco’s offensive line opened up running lanes all night to help McGrew rush for 202 yards and four touchdowns.

To cap off the evening Bosco’s head coach Jason Negro was honored as Max Preps coach of the year for last year’s 2013-2014 season that saw the Braves go undefeated and capture their first ever State Title.

Bosco hopes the magic continues as the playoffs kick off tonight all over Southern California.
