SPORTS: Warren girls soccer shut out Paramount, Gahr as they seek to defend league title

DOWNEY – The Warren High School girls’ soccer team currently has an overall record of 6-8-2 and a S.G.V.L. record of 2-1. 

The Lady Bears defeated Paramount at Paramount 4-0 on 1/10, defeated Gahr at Gahr 9-0 on 1/13 and were defeated by cross-town rival Downey at Warren 2-1 on Tuesday.

The Lady Bears traveled to Dominguez yesterday to face the Lady Dons (score unavailable at press time), will host the Lynwood Lady Knights next Tuesday and will host the Paramount Lady Pirates next Thursday.

Warren finished last season with a San Gabriel Valley League record of 10-0 and were undefeated league champions. 

Coach Dussan, her staff and players are all looking forward to league play and defending their league title.
  
■ The Warren High School boys’ soccer team currently has an overall record of 4-6-4 and a S.G.V.L. record of 1-1-1. The Bears were defeated by Paramount at Paramount 3-1 on 1/10, defeated Gahr at Gahr 3-0 on 1/12 and played cross-town rival Downey at Downey to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

The Bears hosted Dominguez yesterday (score unavailable at press time), will travel to Lynwood next Tuesday and will host Paramount next Thursday.

Warren finished last season with a San Gabriel Valley League record of 7-1-2 and a second place finish behind league champion Paramount. Coach Pena, his staff and players are all looking forward to challenging Paramount for a shot at the league title. Downey will be in the hunt for a piece of the league title as well. 

■ The Warren High School girls’ basketball team currently has an overall record of 11-8 and a S.G.V.L. record of 2-1. 

The Lady Bears defeated Paramount at Paramount 60-31 on 1/11, defeated Gahr at Warren 54-38 on 1/13 and were defeated by cross-town rival Downey at Downey Wednesday night.

The Lady Bears will host the Dominguez Lady Dons tonight, will travel to Lynwood to face the Lynwood Lady Knights next Wednesday and will host the Paramount Lady Pirates next Friday.

The Bears defeated Paramount at Paramount 63-40 on 1/11, were defeated by Gahr at Warren 71-48 on 1/13 and played cross-town rival Downey at Downey on Wednesday night (score unavailable at press time).

The Bears will host Dominguez tonight, will travel to Lynwood next Wednesday and will host Paramount next Friday.

The Lady Vikings traveled to Gahr yesterday to face the Lady Gladiators (score unavailable at press time), will travel to Paramount to face the Lady Pirates next Tuesday and will host the Dominguez Lady Dons in their rematch next Friday.

Downey finished last season with a San Gabriel Valley League record of 8-2. Coach Fresquez, her staff and players are all looking forward to league play and challenging Warren for the league title. Upstart Dominguez has looked sharp thus far and may be tough to beat as well.
