Spiritual discussion group meets Saturday at Furman Park

DOWNEY — Local followers of the Baha’i Faith are hosting a small bi-monthly spiritual discussion group on Saturday mornings, 11 am to 12 pm, at Furman Park called “CommUnity Conversations in Faith”, welcoming anyone in the Downey and surrounding communities to participate.

The topic this Saturday, July 8, is “Can’t We All Get Along? Making Peace With Our Differences”.

“The founders of every major religion taught peace and love, and yet conflict continues, even in the name of religion,” said event organizer Marcella Barba-Olmos. We’ll study some related readings of various religious texts and have an open conversation. Have we made any progress on diverse groups getting along? What more can we do to resolve our differences?”

Organizers will provide refreshments, and recommend bringing a folding chair or blanket. Participants are welcome to bring their own prayers, meditations, questions and suggestions for future discussions.

This is a free event; no donations accepted. RSVPs and future events are posted on Facebook at www.facebook.com/bahaispirituallacounty

Upcoming discussions may include:

- Youth & Young Adults Seeking Faith

- Loving All Humanity

- Women & Men in God’s Image

- Service As Worship

- Developing Character Virtues

- “Spiritual” or “Religious”?
