In conjunction with the OLPH Women's Guild, Downey resident Shirley Johnson is collecting pastries and bread donated by Porto's Bakery when is then donated to local child abuse programs, the HSA and other organizations in need of food. Johnson is pictured above delivering food to Sgt. Daniel Oliver and Pvt. Henry Payez at the Marine Corps recruitment office in Downey, which will distribute the food to the wives and families of troops serving overseas.
