Services today for Norman Paul Gatchet

DOWNEY - Kenneth Frankin Miller passed away Sept. 8 at his home in Maple Valley DOWNEY - Following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, Downey resident Norman Paul Gatchet passed away Sept. 21at Windsor Gardens Convalescent Center of Long Beach. He was 81.Gatchet was born and raised in Silverton, Ore. where he met and married his wife, Joyce. They had two sons and pursued a career in the logging industry until 1954 when Gatchet moved his family to California. Gatchet pursued a career in owning and operating a restaurant for more than 30 years, and he and Joyce had their youngest child. They retired in 1985. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel. The visitation begins at 10 a.m. and burial will take place at Downey Cemetery following the service. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Jacqueline; sister, Dorothy Peters; children, Steven Wayne, Russell Norman and Sandra Gaye Carson; grandchildren, Cary Russell, Roger Steven, Kelly Michelle and Traci Lynn; and great-grandchildren, Gaven, Stephen and Tahler.
